Based on the market analysis of major Indian insurers (such as Bajaj Allianz, Tata AIG, and HDFC Ergo), we have prepared the travel insurance cost estimates for a $100,000 USD coverage sum insured.
Key Assumption: These estimates are based on a standard 15-day single trip. Premiums are in Indian Rupees (INR) and are inclusive of GST estimates.
Country-Wise Travel Insurance Estimates (Charts)
I have generated specific charts for each region: USA, Japan, and Asia (Thailand, Vietnam, Bali).
Reality: Most insurers use broad bands like 0-40 years (flat rate), 41-60 years (moderate increase), and then 5-year bands only after age 60. Still we have made calculator more refined.
Impact: You will see "plateaus" in the charts below for younger ages. This is not an error but a reflection of the actual market pricing structure. Knowing this will help you explain to clients why a 25-year-old and a 35-year-old pay the same premium.
USA: Always the most expensive zone due to high healthcare costs. The premium jumps significantly for seniors (60+).
Japan: Often falls under "Worldwide Excluding USA/Canada" but is more expensive than standard Asia plans. Do not buy a generic "Asia" plan for Japan; ensure it covers the developed Asia/Pacific region or "Worldwide Excl. USA".
Thailand/Vietnam/Bali: These can often be covered under cheaper "Asia Specific" plans. The premiums here are the most competitive.
A: Healthcare costs in the USA are 3-5x higher than in India. A simple ER visit can cost $3,000+. Insurers charge a higher premium to cover this increased risk.
A: For USA/Canada/Europe, we recommend a minimum of $100,000 to $250,000. For Southeast Asia (Thailand, Bali), $50,000 is often sufficient.
A: Yes, the estimates provided by Diversified Solutions are inclusive of 18% GST to give you a realistic idea of the final price.
Age: Premiums generally increase after age 40 and jump significantly after age 60 and 70.
Destination: "Worldwide including USA" plans are approximately 50% more expensive than "Asia Specific" plans.
Trip Duration: Longer trips cost more per day.
Pre-Existing Diseases (PED): Declaring BP/Diabetes may increase the premium but ensures your claim isn't rejected. You must declare conditions like BP or Diabetes. While it may increase the premium, it ensures your claim is not rejected later.
Trip Duration: Longer trips cost more per day.
